Tampa City Limits Zip Codes
The City of Tampa proper — the incorporated municipality, not the broader metro — covers roughly 175 square miles and contains about two dozen primary residential ZIP codes.
Tampa's USPS ZIP code coverage and the City of Tampa's legal municipal boundary do not match perfectly. ZIP code boundaries follow USPS mail-route logistics, while city limits follow a 19th-century annexation map plus dozens of later adjustments. As a result, many "Tampa" ZIP codes are partially or mostly in unincorporated Hillsborough County.
ZIPs that are entirely or almost entirely inside Tampa city limits include downtown and the South Tampa peninsula: 33602, 33603, 33605, 33606, 33609, 33611, 33616, 33621, and 33629. ZIPs that are partly Tampa and partly unincorporated Hillsborough include 33604, 33607, 33610, 33612, 33613, 33614, 33617, 33619, 33624, 33625, 33634, and 33647.
If you are determining service area for city utilities, voter precincts, or municipal permits, do not rely on the ZIP alone — check the City of Tampa's official boundary map. For demographic research, however, Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are the standard unit and align closely (but not perfectly) with USPS ZIPs.
